Create Spline Ink

Create Splines lets you draw splines on the the surface that you are painting on.

Offset – this is how far off the surface the spline will be created.

Thickness – this is the thickness of the spline

Sides – the number of sides of the spline

Renderable – if the spline is renderable or not

Generate Mapping – whether or not mapping is generated for the spline

Display Mesh – whether the spline mesh is displayed

Steps – the steps of the spline

Regular Offset – this just uses the offset for distance from the surface

Offset Over Time – this uses the graph value over time * offset for the spline knots

Offset From Pressure – this uses the pressure of the tablet * offset for the height of the knots

Length – when checked this limits the length of the spline

Limit – when checked this limits the number of knots in the spline

Quick Tutorial

1.      Create a teapot and apply a Paint Modifier.

2.      Set the ink type to Create Spline.

3.      Paint some strokes across the teapot and notice the splines getting generated.

4.      Now set the offset to 10 and paint some strokes notice that the splines are now created off the surface.

5.      Now turn on Offset Over Time and hit the Time Graph.  The graph that pops  up is who the spline will be offset from the surface.  Apply a stroke over the surface and notice the spline now starts on the surface then comes off it.  This is because the graph goes from 0 to 1 which means the spline will start on the surface and end at the offset height.

6.      Now turn on length and apply some strokes.  Notice the spline’s length are now limited.  If you turn on Limit now the knots count will be limited.
